Availability
Am I eligible to join?
Everyone is welcome, as long as we have room.
Your standard of play does not matter, provided you are able to
serve and to keep a simple rally going in social play. You can join
straightaway, or you can play up to three times as a visitor
(except Saturday mornings which are for junior
coaching) before deciding whether you wish to
join.
When
should I come to see about joining?
On Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Friday
mornings between 10:00am and 12 noon throughout the year there is
normally a committee member present to help with queries, as also
on Wednesday evenings from about 6:30 pm. On most of these
occasions (except Saturday mornings which are for junior coaching)
there will be people playing, so you might like to bring a racquet
in case.
NOTE : during the lockdown the
above will not apply. When you apply to join we will discuss
with you the best way of getting an introduction to the
club
Do I
need to book a court?
No. Club members may use the available courts
at any time without booking; and in social sessions we play a set
and then mix people around. Everyone who turns up gets a
game.
NOTE : during the lockdown a booking
system is in operation.
What
courts do you have?
The Club has 4 carpet courts, all with
floodlighting.
What
competitive tennis does the Club run?
In the summer there are five Gents and three
Ladies teams, and we have four Mixed teams in a winter league. We
run a club tournament in September, with level singles and
handicapped doubles events. A singles ladder now runs
throughout the year.
Can
I get coaching?
The Club Coach is Feri Hooshyar (
07976888904). Coaching is mainly for Juniors but we also run adult
sessions according to demand. Ring Feri with any
coaching queries you may have.
What
social events are there?
During the summer we have occasional fun
'American' tournaments with barbecue or hotpot lunches or suppers;
other social events take place from time to time, including our
annual New Year dinner.
Do you have a Welfare Officer and Safeguarding
Policy?
Yes. The Welfare Officer is Val Helliar
- vhelliar@sky.com
Fees
What does it cost to join?
Full membership is currently reduced to £121
p.a. (to end of March 2021) because of present circumstances. You
should check with our Membership Secretary, Amanda Friedland, (
friedlandamanda@gmail.com ) about concessions (e.g. for
students or if you join during the season). Please also note that,
if you play under floodlights, you will be asked to contribute to
the lighting costs.
